Specialist Forensic Recovery

AJM motors operate a specialist 24 hour forensic vehicle recovery service for Police Forces in the Midlands. This involves the preservation of accident or criminal evidence for forensic examination.

We work closely with Police Vehicle Examiners, Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) and equipment manufacturers to develop equipment and techniques that allow us to remove vehicles from the scene of an incident for further forensic examination.

Our forensic recovery teams undergo specialist training and are experienced in working in difficult and challenging environments. Our procedures and protocols ensure our staff maintain complete confidentiality during and post operation.

We can recover motor vehicles, motorbikes, caravans or trailers, HGVs, and coaches from any position which allows access to the recovery vehicle.

AJM provide a total lift...

  • without contact with the bodywork, suspension or floorpan
  • with or without wheels
  • without the wheels turning (if present)
  • without the need to enter the vehicle

Our recovery teams ensure that there is no damage to bodywork, degradation of fingerprints, mechanical or contact evidence. Curtain-sided lorries are used where practical to protect the vehicle from the elements. Mechanical, electrical and running gear components are preserved in their post-accident condition.

Recovery vehicles are fitted with latest computerised tracking equipment to provide our control room with real-time information.

SOCO Rooms – we have established dedicated rooms to quarantine and preserve evidence for further examination. This environment ensures there is no cross-contamination of DNA or other evidence. Adjacent workshops contain de-humidifiers and are clean and comfortable. Our vehicle examination bays are equipped with lifts, compressors, tyre machines, jacks and tools.
